tHE SNAIL has an interesting reproductive system because it is hermaphrodite, meaning it has a penis and a vagina. they can reproduce on their own if they want but they do prefer to reproduce with other snails. most snails can reproduce all year round. When reproducing snails pierce each other with a sharp spear of mucus that has calcium carbonate. the mucus helps the chances of the sperm surviving the intercourse. after mating the sperm that both snails have stays inside the snail until the egg is ready for fertilization, concluding the reproductive cycle.
