Echinodermata is a phylum that has animals that are predominantly marine animals. For instance, some animals that come from the Echinodermata phylum are the starfish and the sea urchin. The Echinodermata is similar to the arthropod in that they are symmetrical. They are different because an arthropod is a bilateral while an Echinodermata is a pentameral meaning they are symmetrical in five different ways. For example, the sea star has five legs that make it all symmetrical. The majority of the Echinodermata are either extinct or live in sandy areas. An Echinodermata will usually stick to something in order to move across it. The animals use their tube feet in order to grip objects. These are the characteristics of the Echinodermata.
