Jellyfish reproduction happens over a few different stages and they can do it sexually or asexually. In the adult stage of a jellyfish, they reproduce sexually by releasing sperm and eggs into the water. In this larval stage of jellyfish life, the jellyfish (mini) hooks on to the bottom of a solid and grows into another stage of jellyfish life, the polyp--which is similar to a miniature sea anemone. This stage can last for several months or years, and it is when asexual reproduction occurs. The polyps clone and repeat themselves and bud into another stage of jellyfish life, called ephyra. Once it is an ephyra it can finish its growth and become an adult Jellyfish.
